From the moment we contacted Ultimate Design we had a thoroughly personable and professional experience. The representative was friendly, clear about what they could do for us and everything it would entail. He listened well to the suggestions we wanted. They proved to be incredibly good to work with, on time, provided excellent communication throughout. And did a first class job. We love our big conservatory. It's made us really enjoy an extra room and space needed as a big family. The workmanship has proven weather proof and anything we were concerned about was inspected and adjusted quickly if needed. We highly recommend this company that show integrity and first class customer service.

The team at UDR were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Fordy was extremely helpful and his communication was great. Matt did an awesome job removing our old and installing our new conservatory, we were so surprised at how quickly he worked and again the communication was amazing. After struggling to find a company to replace our conservatory I am grateful that we were pointed towards UDR, everyone we dealt with was great and we will definitely be using them in the future if we should need to! Thanks so much team.

We are absolutely delighted with our new conservatory, the whole process was seamless from the first point of contact and the installation was right on time. Special thanks to Hannah for her help in getting the job underway and the installation team who's workmanship and attention to detail was second to none. I would have to rate this company as an excellent choice for anyone doing renovations. Five Stars For Us.

Windbreaks vs conservatories: what’s the difference?

Conservatories or sunrooms are glass-enclosed spaces out the front of your home. They’re perfect for relaxing under shelter or growing hothouse plants.

Windbreaks or ‘wind fences’ are much the same idea and are designed to protect your home against the strong Canterbury gusts. The difference is in planning permission.

Some conservatories require council building consent, whereas others can be built as windbreaks, and so don’t need a permit. Our design consultants are happy to come to your home and discuss the best option based on your requirements.

Stunning-looking conservatories.

H2 (i) we take care of everything

We take care of everything.

We start by proposing a conservatory to meet all your needs and suit your home. Whether you have a character home, a modern look or another layout, we’ll find a design that works.

We then draw up a preliminary plan and confirm with you the details. Once you’re happy with everything, we get all your property information from your council, and one of our qualified draftsmen will draw up the final plans for council consent.

Conservatory installation & replacement.

Our installers include qualified builders and specialists. Rest assured, knowing that your home is in the best hands possible. Get in touch with our Christchurch team today.

Weatherproof aluminum & glass.

Using the latest in aluminium frame designs, we build conservatories and windbreaks designed to stand the test of time.

Keep your extension looking new for years to come. Relax in your Christchurch aluminium porch, with the whole design-to-build process taken care of for you.

We’ll sort your paperwork.

Unsure what permits you need? We’ll submit your plans to the council. A standard consent process can take from 4-6 weeks on average. During that time, we’ll call the council weekly to follow up on what stage your consent is at so we can then pass this information on to you. When your permit is due for collection, we assign a builder and call you with a start date for construction.

On completion, the council will come to do a final inspection called a code of compliance. Around this time, you will have an inspection done by one of our management staff to make sure you are 100% satisfied with everything.

Earthquake management.

Due to the earthquakes, it is a council requirement to obtain a soil test on all consented conservatories. This is organised for you and submitted to the council.

We can cover the paperwork on your behalf. Just get in touch and let us know your plans.

I have used UDR and Ashleigh (approachable, friendly and knowledgeable) as a consultant for window retrofitting/replacement in 2 homes and to build a conservatory on to one of them. They did a great job of replacing 2 of the windows with ranch sliders which have improved our homes' indoor/outdoor flow hugely. All windows were satisfactorily installed and when there was an issue with a lock on the door of one slider it was rectified quickly. The staff have always been open with communication, whether to discuss my building needs, honest about realities and the best approaches to meet my budget. I would definitely use the UDR team to do futher retrofitting of double glazing in future.
