Preserving Character with Modern Warmth

This project focused on upgrading all bedrooms and living areas, using UDR’s 40 Series aluminium profile and 24mm double-glazed safety glass. Designed to mimic the aesthetic of traditional timber joinery, the chunky frame profile paired with rebated installation allowed the windows to sit within the original wall. The homeowners were initially hesitant to modernise, worried they’d lose the character they loved. But the UDR solution provided the best of both worlds: classic looks with modern performance. The result is a warmer, quieter, low-maintenance home that looks as timeless as ever. The project proved ideal for character properties needing thermal performance upgrades without architectural compromise.
